Making Artdoll Hands with Jack Johnston (New)

One of the prime features of an outstaing artdoll is a well crafted, detailed pair of hands. When Jack first started making dolls in 1990 he found making hands the most challenging aspect of sculpting artdolls. "Making hands was such a difficult task for me that I only made Santa Claus dolls wearing mittens”, said Jack. As he improved, making more life-like hands became one of Jack’s primary objectives. Today, making hands is one Jack’s strong points. Practice is certainly key in this aspect of sculpting. Johnston often says, “I was not satisfied with my hands until I had made 150 pair.”
